Rihanna has been talking about her edgy fashion sense, and revealed to Vogue that she's always been that way - in Barbados she used to wear a HAT ON BACKWARDS to go to a CLUB.
Madness.
She told the magazine, "When I was 14 and first started going out, I always wanted to be the opposite of everyone else. So I would go to the club in a polo T-shirt and pants and sneakers and a hat on backward, just so I would not be dressed like other girls."
About her current style, Rihanna added, "It's become more about taking a risk. When I am putting looks together, I dare myself to make something work."
"I always look for the most interesting silhouette or something that's a little off, but I have to figure it out. I have to make it me. I think that's the thrill in fashion."

Rihanna has managed to get herself on the cover of American Vogue's April issue, and made this behind the scenes video while on the shoot with photographer Annie Leibovitz.
Rihanna tells us in the clip that she's glad Vogue chose her to be on the cover of their shape issue because, "For a woman to accept their body the way it is, is almost impossible. The grass is always greener."
She added, "I think it's really important that Vogue decided to team up with me and Annie on an issue like this that promotes loving your body the way it is - all different shapes, sizes, curves."

Rihanna might be the girl with a song so raunchy it was censored and a video so suggestive it was banned in 11 countries, but according to Battleship director Peter Berg, her sexy persona is a 'complete act'.
Berg, who directed Rihanna in her first movie role (unless you count Bring It On: All or Nothing which no one seems to), said, "When you meet her there's absolutely no resemblance to that sexy superdiva that you see in the videos. It's a complete act, in my opinion."
He added, maybe scared of offending her, "I am not saying she's not a very sexy girl, but there's so much more to her than that. She is clearly playing around with a character."
Hmm. We wonder if he saw Bring It On: All or Nothing...

Rihanna has finally addressed the controversy surrounding her latest single and video S&M (in a form other then twitter) and has declared that she doesn't think the single would have been so big if there wasn't issues around it.
"I don't think people would have been that curious if there wasn't some controversy involved," Rihanna told Extra.
But she's shown she's not taking her lynching criticism to heart - she says S&M is still her favourite ever video and she's proud of it. And we love it too, however outraged it makes the Daily Mail.
Rihanna said, "'S&M' is my favourite video I've ever done, and I can't wait to keep making more incredible videos and beating them out every time. 'S&M' is going to be a hard one to beat."

Ah what a good friend Katy Perry is - the singer kicked off her Teenage Dream tour this weekend and sang a cover of Only Girl (In The World) as a tribute to her bestie Rihanna whose birthday it was yesterday!
Katy also covered Jay-Z's Big Pimpin and Willow Smith's Whip My Hair. And she played a bedazzled recorder. Presented to her on a velvet cushion. Amazing. Check it out above.

Did you catch the BRIT awards last night? Performances from Adele, Rihanna, Plan B, Take That, the list goes on. Of course, they were all amazing, but what we really took notice of was the fashion.
Rihanna stole the show in our opinion with her Christian Dior Haute Couture gown, but there were some good efforts from Alesha Dixon and Fearne Cotton too. Cheryl Cole, we weren't that impressed with actually.

One of Rihanna's costume changes last night at the BRIT awards was this amazing rose print ballgown with appliquéd roses on the bodice, that she wore to accept her award for Best International Female solo artist.

Rihanna was apparently asked to 'tone down' her performance for the BRITs last night - that was either not true or she either ignored them, because it was as sexy as usual!
The singer performed a mix of Only Girl (In The World), the controversial S&M and What's My Name.
Rihanna arrived at the show in this awesome Christian Dior Haute Couture dress, with a massive turquoise skirt, and changed into a red hooded dress for her performance, which she ripped off to reveal a black lace body.
Then she changed into a rose print gown to collect her award from Cheryl Cole, who announced, "And the winner of the Best International Female solo artist is, my girl crush, what's her name? Rihanna."
Oh she's funny.

Poor Rihanna's having such bad luck with her new single S&M isn't she - first it gets banned in 11 countries, then it gets renamed and censored, and now she's being sued for plagerism!
Photographer David LaChapelle is suing Rihanna because he alledges that some of the shots from her video are "directly derived" from his own work.
His suit claims that "the music video is directly derived from and substantially similar to the LaChapelle works."
He adds that Rihanna 'stole' eight images for the video, which copied the "composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colors, props, settings, decors, wardrobe and lighting of his work."

Rihanna brought her best game to the Grammy's red carpet last night wearing a Couture Jean Paul Gaultier gown which was transparent except for the strips of frills running down it.
I kind of love it. She looked like a total bombshell. It was no wonder Drake couldn't keep his hands off her during their performance of her single What's My Name.
Rihanna performed a tribal-inspired version of the song around a bonfire and showed off her awesome body in a tiny little bra/shorts/skirt combo.
Phew. I think I've fallen a little bit in love with her. RiRi also walked away with the award for Best Dance Recording for Only Girl (In The World).
