Nicole Kidman's dad has explained the reason his daughter and Keith Urban called their new daughter Sunday Rose - telling an Australian newspaper that she's named after an early 20th-century artist's muse Sunday Reed, with 'Rose' being the name of Keith's late grandmother.
"I have read a bit about Sunday Reed and her husband John - she was a key mover and shaker in the arts around the beginning of the century," says Antony Kidman. "The name Sunday struck me as being a nice name for a woman, so my wife and I mentioned it."
Oh, and it turns out Keith was already one step ahead of me, and has already written a song called Sunday. Doh!
Coming next: Nicole's inevitable "post-baby fashion" - although I think it's unlikely that the Kidman-Urbans would do anything as tacky as sell their baby pictures. Well, unless it was to Vanity Fair, or something. Although - hang on - isn't that what Tom Cruise did?

And that's a girl's name. Just in case you were wondering.
Yes, Nicole Kidman - pictured here in one of her lovely maternity looks - has given birth to a baby girl. Contrary to her name, however, Sunday Rose was actually born on Monday. But then, 'Monday' would have been a silly name, wouldn't it?
"Husband Keith [Urban] was by Nicole's side, and mother and baby are very well," said the couple's spokesman - adding that Nic and Keith were "delighted" at the arrival of their 6 lbs 7.5 oz bundle of newborn celebrity joy, who was born in the ultimate country city of Nashville.
"Earlier this morning, Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban," Keith wrote on his website. "We want to thank everybody that has kept us in their thoughts and prayers. We feel blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today."
*Blub*. Now, quick: get that guitar out, Keith. Because 'Sunday Rose' is a song just waiting to happen, no?

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's baby is due any day now - yes, any day. Contain yourself - and according to InTouch magazine, he's bought a "surprise present to give to his wife in the delivery room". Alhough of course it's not really a surprise any more, is it?

Country star Keith has bought a $73,000 Cartier diamond 'trinity' ring for Nicole - which according to an insider is "three rings intertwined, so it's very symbolic". That symbolism apparently being: the three stages of a relationship (yellow gold for friendship, rose gold for love and white gold for fidelity). As well as, of course, the trio of their new family. "It's three turned into one and that's how it will be with Keith, Nicole and the new baby," says the insider.
According to InTouch, Cameron Diaz owns the same ring, as does Katie Holmes, who received hers for Mother's Day. Well, nothing says "I love you, my dearest celebrity" like a $73,000 ring, does it?
