Lily glams it up in Hollywood

lily_glam.jpgAww! Isn't Lily Allen adorable? Well, I think she is. And hopefully America is starting to think she is, too.

Little Lil's over in LA at the moment, schmoozing with the great and good - and she's starting to look really quite glam as a result. She was snapped here at famous celeb eaterie Mr Chows, where she was having dinner with Karl Lagerfeld, Dennis Hopper and Courtney Love - as you do.

And she looks beautiful, tanned, and ever-so grown up in that outfit of hers (worn, please note, with blue toenail varnish. She's not that grown-up, thankfully). Although is it just me, or is there something of a young Cherie Blair about her? Cripes.

Lily Allen demonstrates the hazards of her new collection

lilynipple.jpgOh bless little Lily Allen! She arrived in Manchester today for the launch of her collection at New Look - and signed trainers and dresses and arms and everything.

And what will she make the papers for? Leaning forward in that £22 dress of hers (available now in all good New Look stores) - without wearing a bra. Oops. Still, that'll be more coverage for the launch in tomorrow's tabloids, eh?

New Look vs Primark - can Lily save the day?

shop1.jpgI popped down to New Look on Oxford Street at lunchtime today. And I can safely say that is was a veritable oasis of (brightly coloured) calm - despite it being the first day of the Lily Allen collection going on sale.

shop2.jpgYes, there were no Kate Moss For Topshop-style queues here today. Despite a very pretty display of models (one revolving, no less) at the entrance...

shop3.jpg...and despite a massive picture of Lily in the window. Yes, despite New Look and Topshop's best celebrity-led efforts, it seems that Primark could be winning the battle of the high street - because Oxford Street was full of people carrying those huge brown bags of theirs (as in this picture here). Still, considering what you can get for your money in Primark, it's not too much of a surprise that those bags are so big, is it?

Lily Allen for New Look - we go to the launch party!

lily_keith.jpgSo, Rebecca was the lucky one representing OSOYOU at the launch of Lily Allen's range for New Look last night. She arrived at the fashionably late time of 8.45pm - and as you can see, immmediately bumped into close personal showbiz chum Keith Allen, aka Lily's dad. Who was apparently larking around for the paparazzi outside. As Keith Allen does. Bless.

lily_dresses.jpgInside, there was wine (and nibbles) a-plenty, a great friendly, party atmosphere and a really interesting crowd of funky people - including Lily's boyfriend Seb Chew, who was DJ-ing, and her little brother Alfie.

Lily performed several songs - wearing the multicoloured party dress available in the range for £55 - and according to Becs, looked really happy to be there as she milled around the shop floor afterwards. Which sounds like a bit of a contrast to Kate Moss at the Topshop launch last week. Hmm...

lily_alex.jpg Anyway: Rebecca bought three dresses and a pair of trademark Lily trainers at the launch, and brought them into the office this morning. Which resulted in this scene on the left: women like poor industrious Alex here, trying to launch an internet site while sitting at a desk festooned with Lily Allen clobber.

And the final verdict? Nice, fun, party; nice, fun people - and most of all, nice, fun clothes. Especially that £55 dress (on the right here), which is even lovelier and much better value, we reckon, than the must-have Kate Moss one. But hey, don't just take our word for it - I'll be going down to the store later today to see what The Great British Public thinks of Ms Allen's high street venture. Watch this space!

Kate Moss v Lily Allen: It's style warfare!

lilyred.jpgSo, Lily Allen's collection for New Look goes on sale next Wednesday - and we're going to be down there, blogging live from the store (presumably not the one that got burned down last week, though. If we get there and there are just the charred remains of hundreds of pink hoodies, we'll let you know).

From the sneak previews, it looks like Lily's collection is mostly full of flouncy, Carmen Miranda-esque dresses like this one. Dresses which Lily says "are super-girly but that doesn't mean you have to be a size zero" to wear them. Which is nice. Although judging by the way they've styled the 'Lily Loves' section of the New Look website, it does seem they expect you be about 13 to want to wear them. Hmm.

kateshirt.jpgEither way, the advent of yet another celeb-led high street collection means that there's about to be a style war between the too-cool-for-school, rawk chick look that Kate has designed for Topshop and the fun and colourful, '50s throwback style Lily's sporting for New Look.

But whose style do you like best - and whose collection are you actually interested in buying pieces from? Let us know what you think - take part in our poll!
