Oh dear, Keira Knightley's stage debut has been roundly panned by critics.
Despite all the initial excitement of her opening night in The Missanthrope, reviews have been mixed at best, with the Daily Mail's Quentin Letts describing her as having 'all the charisma of a serviceably goldfish.'
He added: 'Keira Knightley may be one of 21st century cinema's revered objects, but on stage she proves little better than adequate.'
Keira had already expressed fears that she'd be 'burned alive by critics. In a recent interview with the BBC, she said: , 'I'm not coming into it with any great expectations of coming away with great reviews. I thought if I don't do theatre right now, I think I'm going to start being too terrified to do it. So I just thought, okay, dive in and give it a go.'
Well, I guess she gets points for giving it a whirl...

Keira Knightley has wowed audiences at early previews of her new play the Misanthrope.
Critics have yet to review the play, but audience reaction was overwhelmingly positive, with one theatergoer saying: 'People have obviously said before the performance that she would not do very well but clearly she can handle all that pressure and did a really good job on the night.'
Keira, meanwhile, has claimed that she only took the gig - her first on-stage role, because the script made her laugh. 'It made me giggle. That really was it. I've been sent things that were very serious, and I read this and thought, 'How lovely, that really might be fun,''
With Anna Friel's tenure at the West End drawing to a close, expect to now see millions of pictures of Keira leaving the theatre in a different posh frock every night...

Yes, we may be losing David Tennant - but Keira Knightley and her boyfriend Rupert Friend are doing their best to keep the British Geek Chic flag flying.
Here they were in New York yesterday - strolling through the streets of Manhattan, as you do when you're a rich British celebrity taking breaks between filming - and as you can see, Keira was looking really very geeky, and adorable, in her geeky glasses and big, high-waisted trousers.
Rupert, meanwhile, looked slightly geeky in his low-slung skinny jeans... and also slightly French, in his Breton-style top. Ah, le geek - c'est chic!

Yes, Keira Knightley is over in New York city right now, shooting her new movie Last Night. I'm assuming that Last Night is a comedy, because Keira seemed to be laughing an awful lot when she was snapped here on set in Soho yesterday. Although I think I'd be laughing a lot if I was a beautiful actress living the life of Riley, too.
Now, I'm not sure if this was some sort of rehearsal, or if Keira's character dresses down a lot in the film, Kate Winslet-stylee - do Hollywood directors like doing this to British actresses, or something?
Either way, she was wearing a T-shirt, a big cardi, a pair of loose drawstring trousers and a very cosy scarf indeed. And clutching a coffee cup. These Hollywood actresses really do have a nice work uniform, don't they?

According to the Daily Mirror, beautiful British Pirates Of The Caribbean lovebirds Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are set to reunite for - wait for it - a remake of Saturday Night Fever.
Called The Fever Returns, film bosses have apparently "changed the location from Brooklyn to the mean streets of Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire". And are presumably scouring vintage clothes shops for white flared trouser suits as we speak. But what is Orlando going to wear?

We try so hard to like Keira Knightley, we really do. She's funny, she appears in good films, she's self-deprecating, but for some reason, she just grates. And here she is doing that skinny limp thing again, just like Mischa Barton. Why can't she put her shoulders back? Stand up straight? Show a bit of backbone? Instead she manages to make herself, somewhat remarkably, look pregnant in what should be a fabulous red carpet gown.
Keira was at the Toronto Film Festival promoting her latest flick, The Duchess. We will watch it. We will try to like it. And we will try to like Keira. After all, how many Brits make it that big in the States? We should be more grateful. Now, shoulders back!

Keira Knightley looked every inch the Hollywood star (copyright: all papers) on the red carpet in London last night.
She hit Leicester Square for the premiere of her new film The Duchess - and did so in a totally adorable blue dress with netting, a cute updo with a side-swept fringe, and a pair of ginormous shoes.
The dress was from Alexis Mabille's Autumn 2008 Couture collection, her shoes were Moschino (and technically called 'pumps', although I hardly think they were that) and she was also wearing Chanel jewellery.
10 out of 10, Keira, love. I don't care what the Daily Mail says.

Yes, if you thought Keira Knightley looked nonchalant as she swept out of the Radio One studios yesterday, that's because she really is nonchalant. As well as uber-foxy and cool-looking, in her opaque tights, shoe boots and leopard print scarf.
She said this week that it doesn't bother her if other women hate her. "If you put yourself in the public forum, it's what you put yourself up for. I don't think I need to read it," she told The Guardian. "Manipulation is something women do a lot. Women get obsessed with other women - love them or hate them... That line is very easy to cross."
Mind you, she had moved on to talking about the movie The Edge Of Love, there.
And responding to an article in The Guardian which read: "If you want to befriend a woman, ask her the question: 'What do you think of Keira Knightley?' In the resulting torrent of bile and loathing, you will bond", Keira responded remarkably sensibly.
"Well, I'm doing a good thing for women all over the country, then," she replied. "I think that's a very positive thing."
Be careful, now, Keira. Go saying things like that, and we might start to like you...
