Katy Perry has been explaining the idea behind her latest single Firework: her belief in people!
She said, "I think that why I wrote it is because I really believe in people and I believe that people have a spark to be a firework."
Katy explained, "It's just up to them, and a lot of times it's only us that's standing in the way of reaching our goals, fulfilling our destinies, being the best version of who we possibly can be. So that's why I wrote it."

Katy Perry and Russell Brand made their first public appearance since their wedding at the MTV EMAs yesterday in Madrid.
The singer wore a sparkly red Jeremy Scott Spring 2011 "Admit One" dress - you have to admit, whether you like her red carpet choices or not, they're always interesting - and electric blue patent platform pumps. In this instance we think she looks gorgeous.
Also didn't Russell scrub up nicely!? We're very impressed.
Katy took home the Best Video award for California Gurls and performed her new single Firework at the award show too - wearing a very different outfit. Check it out below.

Katy Perry has revealed that she doesn't feel in competition with the other female pop stars because they are all unique.
She said, "We're all unique. That's why we all win and we all can exist."
Katy explained, "People don't want just vanilla. They want 31 flavours."
She added: "I couldn't do what Rihanna does. I couldn't do what Gaga does. They can't do what I do."

Katy Perry has revealed that she thinks of herself as a good girl - despite some of the very suggestive lyrics in some of her songs (cough, Peacock).
Katy said, "I'm kind of a good girl - and I'm not. I'm a good girl because I really believe in love, integrity and respect."
She added, "I'm a bad girl because I like to tease. I know that I have sex appeal in my deck of cards. But I like to get people thinking. That's what the stories in my music do."
I'm sure she appreciates how her, er, assets add to this now, but she also revealed that she wanted a breast reduction when she was 13.
"I had really bad back problems and was a little bit thicker. Then I grew up and lost the baby fat and said, 'Hey, this isn't all that bad'."

Rihanna has revealed that her and BFF Katy Perry will be doing a duet together!
The singer told Ryan Seacrest, "She actually sent me a song a while ago and she wanted me to be a part of it."
"I was like, 'Hell yeah, of course, that's my girl,' and the song is amazing. So we'll be recording that together pretty soon."

PETA apparently found a way around the whole 'What do you get the person that has everything?' problem for animal rights defender Russell Brand and Katy Perry's wedding gift - they got them a Bull.
Because who has a bull already? No-one.
Poorva Joshipura of PETA told Reuters, "Russell the celebrity and Russell the bullock have something in common: they are both very handsome fellows."
She added: "The gift of a namesake is also fitting because just as Russell Brand embarks on his new life as a married man, Russell the bullock has also been given a new lease on life - the heavy loads he once pulled have been lifted from his shoulders for good."

Katy Perry has been speaking of her complete trust in her brand new husband Russell Brand, saying that she knows he'll never cheat on her.
Katy said, "He's made no secret of what his life was like before me, but that's then and this is the future."
She explained, "He's cheated in the past but he knows how good he has it with me and I know he'd never do anything to jeopardise that. I trust him 100%."
Plus, she said, she knows he has it good at home and he won't need to stray. She confided (to the world): "Like Ludacris rapped, 'I'm a lady in the street and a freak in the bed'. I can't rate myself, but if you ask Russell I'm sure he'd give me a 10 out of 10."

Rihanna has revealed that when she first met her best friend Katy Perry's husband Russell Brand, she hated him!
The singer said, "I first met him when he was interviewing me on TV. I was sick and it was the worst interview I have ever done. I was throwing up in a bucket and a doctor gave me a shot in my butt."
"Nothing was funny to me. I thought it was the most stupid f**king interview I ever did in my f**king life. Why am I talking to this idiot? He made me want to throw up again."
Rihanna added, "Then we did another interview on MTV and I realized he was funny, I was probably a complete b**ch but only months afterwards did I get it."
