Over in Los Angeles, Lindsay Lohan is starting to dress like Katie Holmes...
...while back in New York, Katie Holmes is starting to dress like Lindsay Lohan.
For here was Katie with little Suri Cruise yesterday, leaving their apartment building in Manhattan and sporting (Katie, not Suri) a pair of distinctly Lohan-esque pair of PVC leggings.
Well, I say "little Suri Cruise" - but it could, of course, be a doll. Has Suri has gone and got herself a stunt double to serve as a paparazzi decoy already? They do learn fast, these celebrity kids - so I wouldn't put it past her. I mean: Tom Cruise.

Now, some people may look at this photograph of Lindsay Lohan out and about yesterday, and focus on her top half.
But not I.
Because Lindsay's marvellous assets aside, I'm more intrigued by her bottom half. No, not those crazy platform shoes she's wearing for her afternoon shopping trip (eat your heart out, Victoria Beckham!) - but the fact that she's what could be called 'channeling Katie Holmes' style'.
Yes, the baggy rolled-up jeans trend has reached all the way to... Lindsay Lohan's house.
Oh, and that bag she's carrying? It's from Davines - a store which "crafts haircare products and projects for our world that express a balance of substance and style, nature and science, ethics and esthetics". So there you go. Lindsay's green, too. Hurrah!

Yes, it's true! Tom Cruise and his tall lovely wife Katie Holmes picked up an old man off the street. But no, it's not Eyes Wide Shut Part Two, the ageing man in question was simply a pensioner paparazzo who just couldn't take the pace. The red-headed goon, resplendent in a mucky brown jacket and beige pants (I bet they're dirty now), took a tumble as he tried Pro-Pap Manoeuvre no.5- the oh so tricky shoot and walk backwards at the same time. That's just taking on too much. The dadarazzo should learn from Tom- we don't see him patting his head whilst rubbing his stomach in public now, do we?
And so kindly Tom helped the mystery man to his feet and then gave him a concerned look that wouldn't have been out of place in one of Tom's more sensitive films; let's say, Legend. Katie offered no help whatsoever, giggling like a girl, and Mr "I'm so old all my pictures are in black and white" just looked a little bashful.
What an end to an action-packed day. Earlier, according to Gossip Girls, Katie had taken Suri, Isabella and Connor out to their favourite dive, Alice's Tea Cup, while "Tom attended to business matters in the city."
From helping the old folk to solving the Credit Crunch- no wonder Tom, seen here in the same old scruffy jumper he had on over a week ago, has no time to go pullover shopping.

Here were Tom Cruise and his mother wife Katie Holmes out in New York yesterday. With their little girl Suri - who, as you can see, has already learned the correct way to deal with the paparazzi. Don't worry, I'm sure her dad will have her laughing, signing autographs and making calls from people's mobile phones soon.
The three of them had been to a little place called Alice's Tea Cup - perhaps that's why Suri is dressed like Alice in Wonderland? - and, well, going back to that whole 'mother' thing. Is it just me, or are Tom and Katie simultaneously morphing into one and the same person, while Katie also gets frumpier? Well, I suppose if she's going to morph into Tom Cruise, she's got to gain a few years.

According to Us magazine, animal welfare charity PETA has sent a letter to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes warning them not to dress daughter Suri in fur - as Giorgio Armani is using it, unbelievably, in their baby and kids' collections.
"Please be vigilant about any packages that Armani sends for Suri, as they could include bunny fur from his toddler lines," said the charity's vice president Dan Matthews, in his letter to TomKat.
Though Matthews says PETA has "always admired" Cruise and Holmes' "fur-free personal style," the couple is "among the most highly visible wearers" of Armani, he said, and "we find it shocking that Armani is not only breaking his fur-free promise but also trying to lure children into fashion derived from skinned rabbits".
Adda boy. Hopefully we won't be seeing Suri Cruise wearing animal pelt any time soon. Now Trig Palin, on the other hand...

Here were an all-in-black Katie Holmes and a jeans-and-jacket Tom Cruise dining out in New York's theatre - sorry: theater - district last night. The first night of review performances, no less, of All My Sons, the Arthur Miller play that Katie's currently starring in.
So what will the critics make of her Broadway debut? You'll have to watch this space. Or at least watch the arts space of the American newspapers.

Yes, here was Katie arriving at the rehearsal studios yesterday - surpassing even herself by wearing what are surely the widest flares ever seen on a giraffe woman.
That said, I'm less concerned about Katie's enormous jeans than by her white coat. Is she playing a doctor in her new play? Was this the first dress rehearsal? I think we should be told.

Yes, after borrowing Tom Cruise's jeans and then seemingly his coat, Katie Holmes's transformation into her husband appears to be nearing completion. Is this a Scientology thing? Is it to save money on cloning?
Here was Katie going to rehearsals in New York yesterday - and as you can see, if you ignore her lovely skinny trousers and heels, and concentrate, say, on her head, you'll notice that her hair and face are starting to look spookily Tom-like.
That's Tom circa Top Gun/Risky Business era, of course. Now, if only she'd been wearing Ray-Bans...

While her boyfriend Joshua Jackson was off cheering up his ex, Katie Holmes - apparently - Diane donned her shirt, leggings and ballet pumps for a ride to the shops. Let's hope she bought some panniers too, then, eh?
