It's official: Katie Holmes and I have something in common.
Ever since I can remember, E-numbers have made me crazy. You know, a bit like Banana Man, but without any perks - no super powers or a blue and yellow suit. Just a crazed look in my eye and a lot of jumping around.
I thought I'd grown out of it, but when I got to the age of 23 I realized it was with me for life. And it seems that I share this problem with none other than the lovely Katie Holmes.
Out yesterday with daughter Suri, Katie treated them both to some gorgeous looking cupcakes - and then went a little bit odd, becoming over excited about passers by, waving enthusiastically and laughing out loud at nothing in particular.
Both dressed in gorgeous dresses - Suri in a pretty blue number with contrasting red shoes and mummy in a stunning tartan maxi - the pair took a winter walk in the West Village in New York when the transformation occurred.
It's nice to know I now have someone I share my problem with. And Katie if you ever need to talk, give me a call - I'm sure we can discuss it over lunch (my treat).
Blimey, first Carly Zucker, then Katie Holmes go bare-faced in public. Who'da thunk it?
Katie was snapped here returning to her New York apartment, looking tired after another performance of All My Sons on Broadway.
She's been juggling performance dates with entertaining two-year old Suri round the streets of Manhattan, and her busy schedule is obviously taking its toll.
Which is why I'm letting her off with wearing this hideous green corduroy jacket. Accomplished stage actress, busy mum and style icon? Nobody's perfect.

Well, at least one bag of style.
And it is Halloween, you know. So why not get a bag the colour of a pumpkin, eh?
Here was Katie Holmes in New York yesterday, proving that you don't need to dress up as Sarah Palin/Amy Winehouse/a ghost in order to get into the Halloween spirit.
No, all you need to do is step out in the traditional Halloween colours of orange and black. Such as Katie did here, in the form of: a black cardi, black dress, black cropped tights, black ballet pumps... and an orange leather handbag.
Now if only she'd cut eye-holes and a mouth in it to create a spooky Bag O'Lantern. Still, give Suri a pair of scissors and I'm sure she'd do a fine job...

Pity poor Katie Holmes. You're on your way out and you only go and accidentally superglue your hand to a glass window. Thank Tom the other hand is free to call the emergency services.
Not really. That would be a silly thing to do, and, I've just realised, a silly thing to write.
Here's Katie off out on Saturday. Every day we see pictures of her coming and going. It's like she's got a job or something.
Wearing a plaid shirt, thick grey scarf, and flared jeans, Katie was of course on her way to her job; a matinee of 'All My Sons in New York City. No! She's not an usherette, she's in the thing.
Katie, hubby Tom Cruise, and the kids are all enjoying New York so much they just can't stop buying ice cream properties. A source told the New York Post: "In the past couple of months they've bought up all these other apartments. They're all separate and on different floors. Tom is seen coming in and out all the time and he's really friendly to everyone he meets. But Katie just kind of keeps her head down. Everyone in the neighborhood is buzzing about it."
She's not keeping her head down, she's texting. Ah, but what? An insider unreliably informs me "Tom, lay off the ice cream fatso."

A Halloween stroll through Central Park, no less.
Yes, here was Katie Holmes and daughter Suri Cruise in the New York October sunshine. Ah, autumn in New York... someone really should write a song about that.
But I digress. Back to Katie and Suri.
Katie, who was wearing skinnies and flats and cosy fleece - and Suri, who was wearing a cute navy and white polka dot dress, and sporting a new haircut. Niiiice!
But I know what you're thinking: what makes this "a Halloween stroll"? Well, not the fact that Suri is wearing a mask which makes her face go all blurry, no. The fact that, during their walk through Central Park, they stopped off at a children's Halloween picnic. Hopefully the other kids didn't get all star-struck, eh?

Now, I know everyone from Lindsay Lohan to Princess Beatrice is rocking the leather biker jacket look these days - but Katie Holmes has taken it to extremes.
By which I mean: 'very, very short' extremes.
Here she was leaving her apartment in New York yesterday, wearing not-quite-skinny-not-quite-baggy jeans, a grey cable knit jumper and the world's shortest biker jacket. Has she nicked it from Suri's wardrobe? Or Tom's? I mean, he is terribly small...
Still, at least Katie's krazy jacket detracts from her smile, which seems to be displaying a chipped tooth. Or, as they're saying on Entertainmentwise today: "Tom Cruise's missus didn't seem to mind flashing her snaggle tooth at shocked onlookers." Which could possibly be a slight exaggeration.
Taxi (to the dentist) for Ms Holmes!

Look! Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are just like ordinary folk. Like you or me, having a lovely Sunday afternoon lunch with the in-laws.
After a busy weekend working for a living in the theatre (Katie) and a busy day buying ice cream (Tom), they all got together with Suri's grandparents, Martin and Kathleen Holmes, and Mary Lee Mapother. Mr and Mrs Holmes and Mrs Mapother to you and me. Or sirs and ma'ams.
They ate at trendy Frenchy bistro Balthazar where Tom may, or may not, have enjoyed a biere. And as the poster in the background declares, they do brune et blonde. I feel all Parisian just looking at this pic.
And clearly so does Katie, for she has dressed as none other than Mme Clouseau (should she exist) in a black trenchcoat - yes, this trenchcoat lark is really catching on - sensible theatre/ballet shoes, and oversized sunglasses. Tres chic.
Tom wears an old jumper and jeans. He's getting so good at this house hubby thing. Let's hope the in-laws put on their Sunday best....

Yes, as Katie Holmes works hard in the theatre at a matinee of the Arthur Miller play All My Sons, hubby Tom Cruise takes one of his daughters, Suri,
off for ice cream. Good daddy.
The newspapers haven't been too kind to Ms Holmes - with Newsday saying Katie was "earnest and pretty, like a talented girl in a school play." Now, if it was High School Musical 3 she was in, that'd be pretty, pretty good. But something tells me that's not the case here.
Just ignore them all. Critics? Pah! We think you're great. And we haven't even seen it.
And Tom, keep up the house-husband stuff. Heck, in that pullover and an untucked shirt you almost manage to pull it off. It's only the daft Hollywood sunglasses that give away your true star quality.

Sorry: wasted.
Sorry: high-waisted.
It was the opening night of Katie Holmes' play All My Sons on Broadway last night - and apparently she got a standing ovation. Now all we have to do is wait for the reviews....
*Drums fingers*
In the meantime: here was Katie stepping out at the first night party - not wearing her trademark jeans, shockingly, but a high-waisted, 1920s-style jumpsuit with a black lace top underneath it. Unless it's some kind of all-in-one... Either way, it's slightly odd. But I rather admire her gumption for wearing it.
Even if it was accessorised with a small man's head on her shoulder. How terribly Hitch-Hiker's!

Aww! Look at them, with their matching shopping bags! Matching designer shopping bags!
Ah yes, you're never too young to get sucked into a spot of retail therapy, you know. Just look at Katie Holmes and little Suri Cruise here.
Here they were strolling down the street in Manhattan, looking, yes, adorable in a sailor dress (Suri) and sheer, polka dot blouse, black skinny jeans and pixie boots (Katie). And carrying matching Hermes bags.
What do you suppose they'd been buying? A sailor hat? A tiny Birkin handbag? Whatever it was, I'm sure it was extortionately expensive beautiful.
