Celebrity trend: The beanie hat

celebritiesinbeaniehats2013.jpgSo you want to keep warm and look cool at the same time? (let's face it, it's the dream combo) Then there's no better time to invest in a beanie. Although the classic shape has been working its charm on celebs for years, the humble beanie hat has gone through a transformation over the last few seasons, thanks to a blend of upcoming designers taking influence from the Nineties.

First off, find a style that suits you - hats aren't for everyone. Can you work a turn up? Does a loose knit sit best on your hair? Can you wear a beanie slightly off your head without looking like an elf? Choose your headwear wisely; the aim is to look laid back and exude an off duty cool vibe, not look like you're ready to break into someones car. Secondly, take fashion tips from our favourite celebrities who're embracing the beanie. Best friends Cara Delevingne and Rita Ora are often snapped in cult street brand numbers from Trapstar and Dimepiece (they've got the London street-chic look nailed!) but if you're after something more high street, look to songstresses Ellie Goulding and Taylor Swift for inspiration. Yummy mummies Beyonce and Jessica Alba are also fans of the beanie, and who can blame them? They're fashionable, weather appropriate and super handy in a hair crisis.

Shop her style: Kelly Brook keeps warm

Like many of us this week, celebrities across the country have taken to instagram to document their snow adventures, and the outfits they've been wearing in sub zero temperatures. Unlike socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson (who for some bizarre yet hilarious reason decided to pose on a snow covered sun lounger in a bathing suit and heels) one lady who's managed to look super stylish throughout all the horrible weather is model/designer Kelly Brook.

kellybrookjanuary2013.jpg
The gorgeous 33-year-old model, who is snapped in her underwear as often as she is on the red carpet, made us green with envy with her a host of glamorous 'selfies', sporting an array of beautiful coats and weather appropriate accessories. We have to admit, we'd much rather see a celeb being sensible in the snow than teetering around in heels like Bambi on ice...

Kelly opted for a fluffy trimmed parka to announce, "it's snowing!!!" to her followers last week, and has continued to stay warm and fashionable since. From a close up photo featuring a fur coat and hat covering her eyes, to her "Sunday" outfit (consisting of a lovely dress coat, chunky black scarf and some rather spectacular knee-high boots) and her hoody/bomber jacket combo, we think Kelly looks amazing. Want to recreate her style? Check out our favourite picks below!

Steal their style: Celebrities in blue at the Critics Choice Awards

As the Hollywood season swings into action, you can guarantee our eyes will be glued firmly to the red carpet! Following on the coat tails of the Peoples Choice Awards, the A-List flocked to Santa Monica last night for the Critics Choice Awards 2013, providing us with yet another reason to sigh enviously over the swathes of beautiful fabric, glossy hair, and lust-worthy arm candy. Every year we see a number of colour trends emerge at the award shows (last year red gowns and metallic/pastel hues were incredibly popular) and although Pantone announced emerald as the colour for 2013, it looks as though the stars are favouring something slightly different - blue.

criticschoiceawards2013.jpg

Appearing in a host of shades from cobalt to navy, the A-List ladies of the evening certainly looked anything but blue about their fashion choices. Les Miserables actress Amanda Seyfried teamed her pretty lace and chiffon azure blue dress by Marios Schwab with a sleek top knot and black Roger Vivier sandals, which complimented the black inserts at the sleeves. Amy Adams opted for a simple yet glam Vionnet number which featured a draped white top and a midnight blue skirt with a side split. One of our favourite looks of the night came from Vampire Diaries star, Nina Dobrev, who rocked an incredible turquoise blue crystal Monique Lhuillier dress detailing a cut-out neckline and structured shape. I can't get over how amazing she looks!

If you've got a party to go to and you want to recreate these red carpet outfits, check out our best picks below.

Cara colour blocks for DKNY

We told you Cara Delevingne had been a busy girl this year, and it looks as though 2013 is set to be even bigger and better!

The gorgeous British model (with the best brows in the biz and a wonderful sense of humour to boot) was revealed as the new face of Donna Karen's secondary line just before Christmas, taking over from Twilight actress Ashley Greene. Although Ashley's ad campaigns were always tasteful and always beautiful, there's something about Miss Delevingne that screams high fashion. Just look at her! Starring in a wonderfully colourful campaign, Cara works the Nineties inspired SS13 collection, colour blocking pieces like a pro. We love the vibrant primary pops, all white outfits, and matching accessories from head-to-toe! If you can't wait for Spring/Summer to shop the exact look, recreate it with our picks of the moment below. Are you brave enough to try the trend?

Cara Delevingne's award winning outfit

Catwalk regular Cara Delevingne looked her usual fantastic self at the British Fashion Awards this week in a shimmering outfit consisting of a metallic mint dress from Burberry and metallic silver heels.

Cara Delavigne British Fashion Award 2012.jpg
The fun loving model (who was awarded with the title 'Model of the Year' after clocking up an impressive 31 shows during September's fashion week) has been on our radar for a while, but has received extra attention this year thanks to her envious social circle, consisting of fellow award winner Alexa Chung and pop Queen Rita Ora.

Described by British Vogue as the "star face" of AW12 show season, I've no doubt we'll be seeing a lot more of Cara, and honestly? I can't wait. With her down to earth approach to the lime light, wicked sense of humour and quirky style, she's already bowled us over at OSO HQ!

If you want to recreate Cara's look, check out our best picks below - mix metallics together for an out of this world effect, keep accessories minimal yet fierce and don't forget your strongest asset; defined brows!

Shop her look: Jessie J does casual Autumn in style

Jessie J has been busy of late, travelling here there and everywhere as part of her bid for world domination. Yesterday, she tweeted a snap of herself in what looked to be a shoe shop, in front of a wall full of trainers. We know the fun and energetic popstrel is a big trainer advocate, but could this not so subtle tweet mean the star is due to launch her very own range?

Jessie J October 2012.jpg

Dorothy Perkins Noir disco pants £26.99, Topshop Knitted Side Split Jumper £45, Planet Red Double Breasted Coat £215.20, Estelle Deve Kheper Chain £206, Gold Name Plate Necklace £40.

Regardless of speculation about a new footwear range for the star, there's no denying Jessie knows how to work Autumn / Winter 2012 in style. Jessie's outfit comprises of shiny disco pants, chunky black knit, oversized red coat and, not forgetting, the obligatory bling in the form of gold chain and personalised name necklace. Isn't the Little Mix gang one you just want to be a part of? The girl group who won last year's X Factor have found themselves a handy little niche in the style stakes, showcasing sets of cute and quirky outfits across the female foursome.

Little Mix 2012.jpg

As much as we enjoy their usual style, we were pleased to see the group step out of their comfort zone and glam it up last week, when they hit London town to celebrate Leigh-Anne's birthday. The girls went all out on dark gothic blacks, embellished textures and super glamorous dress shapes from full on gowns for the birthday girl, sexy cut outs and embellishment all areas.

Shop their look: Little Mix appear on Radio 1

With the X Factor auditions getting in full swing these past few weeks, it comes as no surprise that last year's winners are surfacing into the lime light. Yes, Little Mix are out and about in full force, in promotion of their new single, Wings, which is due to be released over the coming weeks. This morning saw the four piece girl group visit the newly pregnant Fearne Cotton's Radio 1 show and the station tweeted this gorgeous snap of the girls all together.

I often wonder why celebrities get so dressed up for radio interviews, but now I think I know why. Little Mix opted for a comic book Batman themed look throughout with Jessy leading the way with Lazy Oaf's printed dress (which was snapped on Cheryl Cole earlier this month), whilst Perrie opted for the iconic crop tee, and Leigh-Anne and Jade added an injection of colour into the group. Fearne Cotton slotted into the group like a fifth member.

Natalie Portman gets naked. For Dior's Nude makeup campaign. Obvs.

The beautiful Natalie Portman has been snapped for Dior's latest beauty campaign, and once again, she's wearing very little. Fair enough, she is showcasing Dior's new nude makeup collection rather well so it does make for a nice ironic take, but does she really have to be naked?

natalie_portman_dior_nude_naked_makeup.jpg

Either way, we think her nude make up looks phenom, with a warm soft glow, highlighted cheek bones, soft brown eyes and iridescent lip. We think its so phenom, that we've decided to copy it with a few beauty picks from around the web. Check them out below as well as the super-hot snap of Natalie above.
