Our favourite looks from 2012

We've seen some beautiful, some average and some frankly horrifying outfits on the red carpet this year, and we've loved every moment! Whilst we all have different tastes and opinions when it comes to fashion trends, there are some celebrities who draw huge kudos with their outfit choices; who have undeniable style, even if they miss the mark occasionally. After lengthly discussions amongst the office, we've narrowed down four of our firm favourites who have continually popped up on the nice list this year; if these women aren't on your radar now, they certainly will be in 2013!

Zooey Deschanel

It's incredibly difficult to dislike Zooey - even if you're not taken by her quirky style, her all round gorgeousness and down to earth nature is hard to hate! As the New Girl actress became more and more of a household name this year, she branched out with her look and refined her personal kooky style into something red carpet worthy. From colourful, embellished prom dresses and Sixties shifts to full blown, full length glamorous numbers, this lady has an unrivalled addiction to dresses and we salute her for it! In 2013 I'd love to see more of Zooey's bare legs (I like tights as much as the next girl but seriously Zooey, mix it up a little!) and perhaps a flirtation with a retro trouser suit just to throw everyone off.

Carey Mulligan

Now I know there's only one photo of the new Mrs Mumford here, but one is all I need to make my case. I'm quietly confident that Carey is going to light up the red carpet in 2013 (especially as she'll be promoting her latest film, The Great Gatsby alongside heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio) and I've got my fingers crossed that the stunning Prada dress she wore to this years Met Gala is a taster of what we have to look forward too! With her penchant for unusual pieces I'd like to see the 27-year-old really embrace the Gatsby trend on the red carpet next year, or go in completely the opposite direction and opt for something incredibly modern and unique.

Emma Stone

emmastonestyle2012.jpg

Emma Stone's star continued to rise this year with her role in the comic book blockbuster Spiderman, and, aside from a few minor hiccups on the movies promo trail, the 23-year-old actress might have to be my overall favourite of 2012. Whether she's rocking a blonde or a red hair style, vampish lipstick or a natural beauty look, Emma always looks flawless and 99% of the time, she gets it so, so right. Having already proven that she's not afraid to push the fashion boundaries, I'd like to see Emma continue to really own her style in 2013 and not fall into the fashion pit of letting her stylist do all the hard work.

The Duchess of Cambridge

How could we not put Kate Middleton on the list? From her enviable mane to her covetable wardrobe, the Duchess has proven that she can do everything from bespoke designer to High Street favourites. Sure, she has her fail safes (if I see another pair of nude LK Bennett shoes I might implode) and elements of her attire can be a little 'straight laced' at times, but Catherine always looks impeccable - and we adore her addiction to Alexander McQueen! With the recent royal baby announcement, Kate watch in 2013 will certainly be even more exciting than usual. Will her style change throughout her pregnancy? Will designers be kept up all night creating maternity versions of her favourite dresses? Will her style be striped back when she becomes a Mother? We've got our fingers crossed that the Duchess will continue to wow us (and the rest of the world) in the New Year.

Get the Look: Blake Lively's spectacular sequins

gtl.jpg

If Blake Lively wasn't already the luckiest woman on earth (who goes from Leo DiCaprio to Ryan Reynolds, seriously?!), she can also rock a sequin jumper with a sequin-print skirt, a patterned brown bag and black boots without looking like a crazy lady.

We want her life. But we'll settle for that Marc by Marc Jacobs jumper...

Marc by Marc Jacobs faded quad sequin jumper, £280 available at My-wardrobe.com.
New Look belted floral cord skirt, £19.99 available at New Look.com.
Topshop Bonnie boots, £110 available at Topshop.com.

A look back at Emma Watson's Harry Potter premiere outfits

Well it's pouring down in London but that won't stop the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part Two) from happening - it hasn't over the last 10 years! Obviously the biggest excitement for tonight is what Emma Watson will be wearing - she's gotten good at dressing for red carpet rain (although it's stopped for now but we'll see if that holds up).

As Emma gets ready for her last ever Harry Potter red carpet appearance, (she just tweeted "Just getting ready for the world premiere of Deathly Hallows Part 2. So excited - and it has stopped raining! See you on the red carpet x"), we thought we'd take a look back at all her other world premiere outfits. She's come a long way!

Victoria Beckham's Style Evolution

I'm sure we can all thank god that no one could see us during our platform trainers phase, but sadly for them celebrities don't have that luxury. Which is lucky for us, because it means we can make features just like this looking back at how ridiculous they looked in the 90s.

Victoria Beckham is a perfect example of how much a person's style can change over time - she's done LBD and stiletto's, through to hip hop singer, through to Class A WAG and came through it all to be one of our country's best dressed exports with her own hit fashion label.

This weeks Celebrity Style Hero is the irreplaceable Rihanna: who could have known that the young girl from Barbados who we first saw wearing trainers and jeans in the Pon De Reply video would be a global fashion trailblazer in just a few years? No-one.

But here she is, getting first dibs on labels Dolce and Gabbana and Marchesa for award shows, and basically strutting around town in her underwear - you've got to admire her confidence.

Check out our collection of some of Rihanna's greatest fashion moments of last year by clicking on the image below and tell us who you think should be next week's hero in the comments.
