Victoria Beckham to dress Michelle Obama?

Victoria-Beckham-mod.jpgVictoria Beckham has enthusiastically said that she would "absolutely absolutely absolutely" love to dress the First Lady, Michelle Obama.

The singer turned fashion icon and designer, who recently sent Sarah Jessica Parker to the White House in one of her designs, gushed, "I would love to dress Mrs. Obama absolutely absolutely absolutely! I just think she's incredible and she's a very strong woman and she's beautiful."

On the success of her label - which also has fans in Blake Lively, Heidi Klum and Drew Barrymore - the artist formally known as Posh Spice said;

"I love women and I just want to make women feel good and beautiful and it's just been a huge compliment that ladies have enjoyed wearing my dresses and they look great!"

"It just goes to show they can flatter women of all different shapes and sizes, all different heights, and that's what it's about. It's about creating an illusion and having a great cut."

Hilary Swank in Giorgio Armani Privé

Hilary_swank_oscars10.jpgThere wasn't an Oscar nomination for Hilary Swank this year, but she still knows how to get people talking about her.

Hilary, who in earlier years won the Best Actress award for Million Dollar Baby and Boys Don't Cry, was one of the most uncovered celebrities when she attended the Vanity Fair Oscar After Party wearing a black Giorgio Armani Privé gown .

The show-stopping dress featured chain metal Swarovski beading, a plunging neckline, and a daring cut-out back which ran into a black and white asymmetrical satin skirt. She topped the whole thing off with Jimmy Choo platforms and a Roger Vivier clutch.

Has Lindsay Lohan been sacked by Ungaro?

lindsaylohanvoguemilan.jpgIf this is true, you can hardly blame them.

After not being present at the Emanuel Ungaro's A/W show despite doing the Paris Fashion Week rounds where it was held, rumours are rife that the actress singer model Lindsay Lohan is no longer designing nipple tassels for the label.

A spokesperson told press "She's not involved in this".

London Fashion Week: Burberry A/W10

Coats, coats, coats - that was the theme of the day at Christopher Bailey's Burberry Autumn Winter 2010 show, which finished off London Fashion Week.

The show was a mix of styles of coats: military, trenches, peacoats, aviators and fur over sexy, tight, ruffled skirts and dresses in rouched velvet and chiffon, worn with thigh high boots and chunky buckled boots.

Green and brown were ever-present on the catwalk, shot through with wine coloured dresses and a bright blue that came down in elegant coats.

The clothes notwithstanding, Burberry's show was a star studded event, with Kate Hudson, Clare Danes, Kristen Stewart and the High Priestess of fashion herself, Anna Wintour decorating the front row.

Iconic fashion designer Alexander McQueen commits suicide

Alexander-McQueen-dead.jpgI logged on this afternoon to discover the tragic news that top British fashion designer, Alexander McQueen has been found dead after taking his own life.

Just 3 years after his close friend, Isabella Blow committed suicide, McQueen sadly followed suit. Isabella had been credited for assisting the young designer's shoot to fame and reportedly bought his entire graduate collection for ₤5,000, paying it off in weekly ₤100 installments.

Born in East London, 40-year-old McQueen trained as a tailor on Savile Row, going on to make suits for the likes of Prince Charles. He was named British designer of the year four times between 1996 and 2003. His career reached a crescendo when he was awarded a CBE and named the International Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designer Awards.

One of fashion's greats Alexander McQueen will be sorely missed.

Stella McCartney hosts Food Inc film party

Stella-McCartney-foodinc.jpg
Stella McCartney loves to get her teeth into a political food issue so she was in her element on Monday night. Hosting the after-party of the premiere of Oscar-nominated film Food Inc at her Mayfair store, the vegetarian designer said, 'Once you've seen the film, you'll be educated to know how to make responsible decisions about what you buy. It's a scary film. It's so important to see it if you can.'

Looking sophisticated in an all-black outfit, she switched statement killer heels for a far more sensible (but still sexy) mid-heeled court shoe. Wonder if we'll see the trend continue on her autumn-winter catwalk in a couple of weeks?

Heidi Klum unveils maternity line on Good Morning America

Heidi-Klum-gma.jpg
A gorgeously groomed Heidi Klum was spotted at the ABC News studios in Times Square where she made an appearance on Good Morning America. On the show to promote her new maternity lines, she looked supermodel-perfect in furry jacket, sequin top, skinny jeans and YSL tribute heels.

Her collection for A Pea in a Pod isn't your average maternity range - for starters it includes stretch-leather trousers and a unitard! But Heidi is most proud of the prints she designed for her Motherhood range. Look closely and you can see her tote bag is printed with tiny hand-drawn flowers - all her own handiwork!

Pamela Anderson's fashion show flop

pamelaanderson-shades.jpg

Poor Pamela Anderson's fashion show didn't get the best turnout - only twenty people showed up, according to the Daily Mail. The A*Muse collection, created in collaboration with designer Richie Rich, was shown at the Play nightclub in Miami where tickets were on sale for $25.

The Baywatch babe has recently been modelling on the catwalk and in advertising shoots for designer pal Vivienne Westwood. Westwood's curve-enhancing and corseted dresses are well-suited to Anderson's hourglass figure. In fact, the A*Muse dress that Pamela wore bore a striking resemblance to Westwood's drape-and-knot designs. Hmmm, maybe Pamela should leave the designing to Viv?

Did Elton save Donatella Versace from drug hell?

Tom & Donatella.jpg

A new book out today spills the beans on the Versace story and suggests that Donatella Versace was saved from drug dependency by none other than Elton John. The book 'House Of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder, and Survival' charts the story of the brand and recalls Donatella's challenges in running the design house following the murder of brother Gianni.

In 2004, troubled by Donatella's drug dependency, Elton John apparently staged an intervention, disguised as a birthday party for Donatella's daughter. The intervention resulted in rehab for Donatella and successful reinvention for the brand. (Alas, not for long though, Versace has just announced 350 job cuts in a bid to return to profitability by next year.)
