Oscars (fashion fail): Vera Farmiga in Marchesa

verafarmigaoscars10.jpgOh. My. God. Whoever suggested Vera Farmiga wear this Marchesa dress to the Oscars has a vendetta.

The Up In The Air actress was nominated in the Best Actress category, but missed out on the award to (the infinitely better dressed) Sandra Bullock.

The dress - which seemed to consist mainly of a ruffle - was, we think it is safe to say, a little bit over the top and the metallic pink colour didn't help matters.

On the plus side, her make up was lovely, and we're coveting her lipstick.

The worst dressed at The BRITS 2010 picture gallery

Every year I settle down in front of the telly for another year of great music, drunken speeches and fortunate and unfortunate dress choices. Yes, I'm talking about The Brit Awards.

Lady Gaga is in a league of her own when it comes to red carpet dressing, any dressing in fact, and although she's made it onto my worst dressed list, I still can't help but admire her for making damn sure she makes it onto every worst dressed list out there.

Other persistent offenders on the list include the likes of Kylie, Courtney Love and Pixie Geldof. But this year also saw a few new faces make it onto my list too; Kesha and Natasha Khan I'm sorry to say had to be added, Kesha Sebert for the dead sheep and non-smile she was sporting and Natasha for the mish-mash of bright blue eye make-up, gold beret and maxi dress.

Lady GaGa: how not to do your make-up

Lady-Gaga-lips.jpg

Following a dramatic no-show last week, Lady GaGa played her first Monster Ball show at Radio City Music Hall on Wednesday.

Arriving at the venue looking relatively dressed down, she sported a crystal-studded leather jacket, dominatrix boots and a hat borrowed from the Village People. The gold metallic Minx nails looked spectacular but may I suggest GaGa, that you take the shades off to apply your lip liner next time?

The concert - one of four New York dates - received rave reviews. Among the A-list guests attending the show were Sting, Trudie Styler and er, Donald Trump.

Lindsay Lohan in sheer shirt shock

Lindsay-Lohan-sheer.jpg

Er, Lindsay, can I have a quiet word? It's just that... you're blouse is completely see-through and we can see everything!

Never one to make a low-key appearance, Lindsay Lohan arrived at a party in West Hollywood almost wearing a super-sheer polka dot blouse, cropped jacket and sausage-skin like leggings topped off with a trilby. One day, just one day, we will see Lindsay in a sensible little black dress looking demure and sophisticated. No, really.

Talking of demure and sophisticated, Lindsay is in panic mode at the thought of a sex tape of her doing the rounds in LA. Apparently the tape features Lindsay cavorting naked with a mystery man. Yawn, how passé.

Pamela Anderson makes an embarrassing boob

Pamela-Anderson-New-Years_Eve.jpg
Counting down to the New Year was clearly all too much for Pamela Anderson who suffered an inevitable embarrassing wardrobe malfunction while performing at Paramount Studios in Hollywood. (Oh no she didn't! Oh yes she did!) No, not the matchy matchy silver shoes and single sparkly glove, but an explosion of silicone boob spillage from her too-tight dress.

Next time Pammie, may we suggest having your pal Vivienne Westwood on standby - we hear she's quite handy with a needle and thread.

Pixie Geldof goes out with Alice Dellal, forgets skirt

Pixie-Geldof-pants-blog.jpgWell I suppose that's one way to get attention.

I personally prefer the dressing up in fancy dress and singing my heart out to classic karioke tunes approach.

Spotted here out partying with chum Alice Dellal, who on first look also appears to be missing her bottom half, Pixie Geldof was sporting a rather, erm, punk look I guess...

She wore a blue check shirt, teamed with a leather biker jacket, Doc Martin boots and striped sheer tights. Yep, no mention of trousers or a skirt there at all. Classy

I do wonder what daddy Geldof would say.

Agyness Deyn in what us mere mortals would call fancy dress

Agyness-Deyn-pink-dress.jpgWhen we first spotted this picture of the lovely Agyness Deyn, we thought "cool fancy dress outfit", but how wrong we were!

The ballerina pink dress, neon pink headband, oversized fur-esque coat, which is a part Dennis Waterman in Minder, part Cruella Deville, had us all longing for a giant fancy dress chest trove of our own that we could raid.

However, on closer inspection this is not fancy dress. No no no, its just another 'high fashion' creation that us mere mortals could only dream of stepping out in. I infinity dare you to wear something like Aggy's creation to Tesco's to do your weekly shop. You might get a few odd looks but hey, who cares? it's high fashion darrhling!

John Mayer needs fashion lessons from Jennifer Aniston

mayersleeveless.jpgYikes! Put 'em away, Johnny! And by "'em", I do of course mean: your shoulders.

Yes, John Mayer may be a legendary guitar player and a mighty fine songwriter and yada yada yada...But he let himself down horribly yesterday.

For here he was - legendary guitar player, mighty fine songwriter and, yes, Gap model - leaving his LA gym in what I would call "not his best look".

I'm sorry, but even 'working out' is no excuse for a sleeveless top. Whatever next, a trucker's hat? A vote for Sarah Palin?

Jennifer Aniston: your country needs you. Or rather: your man needs you. Please get him a new workout shirt, pronto.

Coleen Rooney has fashion faux pas on girls' night out

coleenfrayed.jpgColeen Rooney-nee-McLoughlin was all smiles as she and her girlfriends hit Olde Londone Towne last night.

But her grin masks a fashion faux pas. Can you spot what it is?

No, it's not the wearing of black opaque tights with a black dress and black shoes. All the kids are doing it.

No, it's not the wearing of a leather biker's jacket. All the kids are doing that, too.

And no, it's not her Louis Vuitton leopard print scarf. Because it's not made from actual leopard.

No - if you look closely, you'll see that the hem of Coleen's Little Black Dress has come away and is fraying. Fraying, I tell you.

Still, I suppose 'real' women do have 'real' clothes with 'real' frayed hems, don't they?

Paris Hilton parties with Prince William

pariscalf.jpgHere was Paris Hilton in London last night - about to head out for a night on the town. As you do, when you're a rich celebrity and it's a Wednesday night.

Now, I won't dwell on Paris's shocking outfit here - mainly because she looks like Pauline Calf, but also because the dramatic headline of this story is that Paris was heading out for a night out with Prince William.

Well, erm, sort of.

In short: Paris went off to favourite celebrity haunt Whisky Mist - and guess who else was hanging out in the VIP area there? Prince William. And Princess Beatrice. And Princess Eugenie. And Princess Christina Aguilera.

Sadly, though, Kate Middleton appears to have been absent. Shame. Because that would have been a great face-off, dontcha think? "Leave 'er, Pazza! She's not worf it!". Pauline Calf would have been proud.
