It's a good thing Lily Allen has retired from the music business because she's bound to raise a few eyebrows with her latest comments.
The (former) singer has declared that the Brit award she won in February - which she then described as "perfect goodbye" to the industry - 'meant nothing' to her.
Lily said, "I got a Brit Award recently. And that was something four years ago that I would have died for. But when I finally got that award it meant absolutely nothing to me."
She continued, "Because I now know that the Brit Awards is a TV show. Record company executives make deals with a TV channel and the producers about who wins what award in exchange for performance time. So it's just become a non-award, like 'Thank you for this'."
You're welcome Lily.

We reported that Lily Allen had announced her retirement and plans to open up a fashion shop called Lucy in Disguise (and the subsequent reality show that follows it), but it looks like it may already be running into problems.
Apparently Lily and her sister, Sarah Owen, who will co-run the store, have fallen out big time after Sarah spoke to a magazine about Lily's suicide attempt as a teen.
A source said, "The friendship has gone through fits and starts but since Sarah spoke about Lily it has got even worse. There have been other issues over how much press they do together and how high-profile they make the project."
"Lily wants to keep the project low-key rather than turn it into a big celebrity thing but Sarah seems to have other ideas. It's causing big problems."
Uh oh.

Now Lily Allen has confirmed her retirement from the music biz to pursue a fashion career, she has announced that she will be the star of a new reality show.
The show will follow Lily as she goes from singer to shop owner, and will document the early days of her store, Lucy in Disguise.
"Lily was approached about the TV show and thought it would help promote her new ventures as well as letting people get to know her a bit better," a source told The Sun.

The Brit Awards are tomorrow, and we're getting excited. The great red carpet outfits (Alexa Chung 2009), the bad red carpet outfits (Five words: Geri Halliwell, Union Jack, 1997) the performances, the celebrities making drunk speeches... what's not to love?
Peformances will include Cheryl Cole (who hasn't been having the best week, so let's wish her luck) and Lily Allen who is rumoured to be having her performance set and costumes designed by William Baker - the stylist for Britney's The Circus, and Kylies' X tours. There's been talk of a parachute being involved, so that should be entertaining. Especially if it goes wrong.

The Smile star has recently returned from an Australian tour where she appeared at The Big Day Out festival looking worse for wear.
Now she's back on Twitter over-sharing about her fitness and diet plans. 'I'm off to the gym,' she tweeted, 'went to India over Xmas, and the clarified butter has made its way from my tummy to my thighs. Eeuuggh.' Another tweet promised, 'got some really exciting stuff to share with you.' Why back already Lily - been missing the limelight?

Who needs rock n roll? Loved up Lily Allen is feeling broody again and wants nothing more than to set up home with boyfriend Sam and nest.
Following a non-stop year promoting her number one album, It's Not Me, It's You, the 24 year-old singer wants to kick back, relax and finalise the purchase of her Cotswold pad. 'I just want to have babies and live in the countryside, that's my goal really,' she told The People.
She admitted she has no plans to record a follow up to her album and is keeping her options open. How handy that she traded in her slew of celebrity boyfriends for a builder. We always knew she was a smart girl.

Lily Allen has opened up about her miscarriage, describing it as 'the worst time of my life.'
Speaking to Grazia magazine, the singer said: "I couldn't even compute the emotions going through my head, but I was having to put out a press release about my miscarriage.
"I had this public sympathy for about five days and then everyone was on my case again and I didn't know what was happening to me."
She also explained why she decided to reject her ladette image: "When I started out, I'd drink four cans of cider on stage because I needed the confidence not to be judged. But getting off my head got me into trouble - I didn't understand why I couldn't be like Liam Gallagher just because I was a girl.
"Now I'm happy being more of a lady. I get it. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em - and make the most of it."

Lily Allen and Elton John have clearly decided to bury the hatchet after she got a bit squiffy and told Sir Elton to f**k off at the GQ Men of the Year Awards last year.
She managed to bag herself an invite to his annual Winter Ball in honour of the Elton John AIDS Foundation and was even asked to design her own cocktail bar for the event (stick to what you know, etc, etc).
That said, Lily's been very well behaved recently, having had to have a quiet word with both Kate Moss and Katie Price when they've had one too many sherries in recent months. Has the ultimate party girl grown up?

Lily Allen's already threatening to quit London - is she planning on quitting London as well?
According to Female First, the singer has put her North London flat up for sale, and is looking at buying a five-bedroom house in the Cotswolds with boyfriend Sam Cooper. A source said: "Lily's had enough of London life. She may only be 24, but she's done far more than most other girls her age in just a short space of time."
A few months ago, Lily admitted that she eventually wanted to become a suburban mym: "I have every intention of becoming a suburban mum. I want to get married and have children. Singing is a great job, but it doesn't leave time for what's important. Like having a family. I'd like to live in the country and have a walled garden, and chickens and pigs."
What do you think - will London be the same without Lily falling out of the Ivy of a Wedneday night?
