Blake Lively's Style Evolution

She's the new face of Gucci, she's modelled for Chanel, she counts Christian Louboutin as a good friend, she's dated Leonardo DiCaprio and she's rumoured to be house hunting with Ryan Reynolds; there are a lot of reasons to be jealous of Blake Lively, but equally, a lot of reasons to love her (honest!). The stunning actress has been in the movie business since her early teens, but it was her role 'It girl' Serena van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl that really caught our attention, and she's held a firm place on our lust list since then.

If you're as big a fan of Blake as we are, you'll know that the gorgeous 24-year-old has made no secret of the fact that she a. loves fashion and b. doesn't use a stylist. Blake confessed to Marie Claire, "My assistant will call fashion houses for me, but I always pick the outfit, shoes, jewelry, and a lot of times I do my own hair and makeup for events. Sometimes I think, God, why do I do this to myself? It's so much extra work!" Although we're sure she's picked up more than her fair share of tips and tricks whilst on the Gossip Girl set, it's certainly refreshing to see someone do all the hard work themselves - especially when she does it so well!

As the fashion-centric show that made her name draws in on it's final season, we're expecting to see much more of Blake on the big screen - in fact, the actress is currently on the promotional trail for her latest movie Savages, in which she plays the shared hippie girlfriend of two pot growers (Taylor Kitch and Aaron Johnson) who is kidnapped by the Mexican drug cartel. So, something light hearted then, huh Blake? Whilst her new characters wardrobe doesn't come close to that of Serena, you can guarantee that Blake will leave us all in awe as she takes to the red carpet at each premiere; without enlisting professional help.

blakelivelystyleevolution.jpgThe lovely Blake certainly tried her best to impress in the early days of her career, and just like every other young woman who's trying to figure out what works for her, the actress occasionally missed the mark. For Chanel's 'Night of Diamonds' dinner back in 2008, Blake obviously wore a gorgeous Chanel number (kudos) but something wasn't just right - perhaps it was the awful shoes and washed out makeup that let her down? Blake stumbled again at the 2009 Golden Globes as she attempted to wear a lilac silk Nina Ricci dress that was too tight for her. Even if the dress had fit, the sequined bust, tacky bracelets and beach hair would still have put her on the worst dressed pile. We live and learn...

blakelivelylegs.jpg Blake's long legs are enough to drive any man and woman crazy! The actress soon figured out that short pieces worked in her favour, as she showcased her pins in a teal chevron patterned playsuit and cute monochrome dress. For some unfathomable reason, Blake has the ability to rock feathers like no one else. How? Oh, and the hair and makeup is much improved!

blakelivelymarchesa.jpgLike many of the 20-somethings stars today, Blake is a big fan of Marchesa. Now in my opinion, Marchesa is akin to Marmite (you either love it or loathe it) so I'm leaving it up to you to decide which camp you're in here. One thing's for sure, Blake likes to experiment and have fun with fashion, and we can't hold that against her!

blakelivelyredcarpet2011.jpgAs we head into 2011, Blake looks more and more Hollywood everyday. For these red carpet occasions, the actress opted for two very different one shoulder dresses - the first, a draped Chanel Couture number featuring a sheer front decorated with silver pailettes, and the second, a pale blue Marchesa with sweeping fabric and hem embellishment. With her strawberry locks and A-List glow, Blake looked the Belle of the ball for the Met Gala, switching back to blonde and looking fresh as a daisy for the LA BAFTA Party.

blakelively2012.jpgOh Blake, honestly, you're so gorgeous you could pretty much wear anything and we wouldn't hold it against you. For the Chanel Cruise 2012 show Blake wore a sequined short suit and some serious bling, which she teamed with yet another pair of Louboutin's from her collection. Seen here with Clémence Poésy, the actress sparkled as she relaxed on the water. For the LA premiere of Savages yesterday, Blake wowed the crowds in a sculptured Zuhair Murad Couture gown, which emphasized her figure and most importantly, didn't look as though it was wearing her. Bravo Blake, bravo.
