Natalie Portman thought Black Swan would kill her

Natalie Portman's performance in her movie Black Swan is being lauded by critics, but the actress has revealed that the preparation for her role as a bulimic ballerina was so difficult, and she became so skinny, she thought she would die.

"There were some nights that I thought I literally was going to die," she told Entertainment Weekly.

Natalie added: "It was the first time I understood how you could get so wrapped up in a role that it could sort of take you down."

Apparently it got so bad, says director Darren Aronofsky, that "at a certain point I looked at [her] back and she was so skinny and so . . . I was like, 'Natalie, start eating.'".

We hope she at least gets an Oscar nomination to go with her Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild ones!
