Oscars: Mo'Nique wins Best Supporting Actress

Mon'Nique beat out the competition last night in the Kodak Theatre to win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Precious.

Weaing a royal blue Tadashi Shoji gown and flowers in her upswept hair, the actress and singer won over Penelope Cruz, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga to the coveted statuette.

Mo'nique took to the stage, saying "I would like to thank the Academy for showing that it can be about the performance and not the politics."

She also paid tribute to her husband Sidney Hicks, "To my amazing husband Sidney, thank you for showing me that sometimes you have to forego doing what's popular in order to do what's right. And baby, you were so right. God bless us all."
