Gerrard Butler's 40th birthday goes off with a whimper of desperation

Gerrard Butler celebrated his 40th birthday in style this weekend...with a bunch of people he didn't really know.

Proving himself to have both rubbish taste in venues and celebrity friends, he celebrated the big 4 0 with the likes of Jenni Falconer, Tamara Beckwith and Lisa Snowdon in Chinawhites.

Why anyone would want to spend their birthday listening to Lisa Snowdon bang on about how she used to go out with George Clooney I don't know, but this is the man who played tonsil hockey with Lindsay Lohan just a couple of weeks ago, so there's no accounting for taste.
