Are Cheryl and Ashley Cole on the rocks?

Cheryl Cole has sparked rumours that she and Ashley Cole are splitting up by not wearing her wedding ring for either of this weekend's X Factor shows.

Despite Cheryl's claims that she simply forgot to replace the ring after she took it off to wash her hands, sources have told the Daily Mail that her marriage to Ashley has been doomed since he had an affair last year. A friend told the paper: 'The truth is the marriage is over, even if neither of them wants to confront it. They still have the occasional moment of fun but they both know, particularly Cheryl, that this isn't going to be forever.'

'The pattern of their relationship seems to be that she achieves something, he goes off in a sulk and she spends the next three or four days massaging his ego and building him up again. He can be petulant, pouty and vain.'

One of the many advantages of people a National Treasure is that it's really easy to get a date - go on Cheryl, kick him to the curb and have some fun!
