Ashley Cole defends Cheryl Cole's X Factor outfit choice

Ashley Cole has defended wife Chery's Cole's choice of costume on the X Factor last week.

Cheryl's outfit might have been panned as both provocative and bonkers, but according to The People, Ashley loved it: "I wouldn't have wanted her to wear anything else. She looked beautiful. I really liked the outfit."

He also admitted that Cheryl's nerves got the better of her. "The nerves sometimes lead to tears, but I try and make sure I'm always there to help. Cheryl still worries that things might not work out for her.

"She has worked incredibly hard to get where she is but fears it could all end tomorrow. When Cheryl first thought about going solo she got scared."

Ashley added: "She gets very nervous so I try to help her as much as I can. I tell her, 'You're going to be great', but it doesn't always help when someone else says that."
