Scott Bruton leaves The X Factor - as scandal hits Laura White
It was tears galore on The X Factor last night. And that was just from me, a jazz singer, hearing all the various attempts at jazz classics. It wasn't pretty. Although the girls certainly looked very pretty. But I digress.
Because, yes: over in the studio: Scott Bruton got upset, Daniel Evans got upset, Louis Walsh got upset (no, really), and Cheryl Cole didn't (no, really). Daniel sang a song dedicated to his dead wife (the cause of many of the tears) and Scott Bruton sang 'I Can't Make You Love Me' - but it sadly wasn't enough to make the judges love him, and he was sent packing.
Meanwhile, outside of the studio, it's been revealed that the current favourite to win, Laura White - who wore a long black slinky dress and rolled around on a sheepskin rug last night (although looked rather less retro here, in her beanie hat and cowboy boots last week) - is dating Mathew Firsht, an executive on the show.
According to the Daily Mail, Mathew is "regularly seen on set talking to Simon Cowell and the fellow judges" and has been dating Laura since March.
"Laura has done her best to keep this a secret as she knows it looks a bit suspect," a friend told The Sun. "But some people have found out and have been bitching about it."
An X Factor spokesperson said: "Laura's personal relationship with Mathew has no bearing on her place in the competition" - which actually does seem fair enough to me, considering it's a public vote an' all. Unless Mathew has a very effective redial mechanism on his phone...
