Official: David Tennant quits Doctor Who

Yes, in a move that has broken the hearts of all women, men, girls and boys up and down the land, the BBC has announced that David Tennant is to leave Doctor Who next year. Despite the show winning most popular drama - and David being named most popular actor - at last night's National Television Awards.

"I've had the most brilliant, bewildering and life-changing time working on Doctor Who. I have loved every day of it," said David in a statement last night. "It would be very easy to cling on to the Tardis console forever and I fear that if I don't take a deep breath and make the decision to move on now, then I simply never will. You would be prising the Tardis key out of my cold dead hand. This show has been so special to me, I don't want to outstay my welcome."

But who's going to wear brown suits, cute glasses and Converse trainers now? I don't know. And I don't care. Because whoever it is, there's no way he's going to be more adorable than David Tennant. *Sniff*
