Britney Spears faces court - again

Here was Britney Spears leaving a dance studio and heading out to do a bit of clothes shopping yesterday. And who can blame her for indulging in some retail therapy - or looking a bit grey? Literally? Because news is out that she's going back to court. But at least it's not about her children this time.

According to Reuters, authorities have set an October 15 trial date for Britney after she was charged for driving without a California licence... over a year ago.

It's possible that the case could be settled out of court before then, however. As a spokesman for the LA City Attorney's Office said: those facing the same charge as Britney typically settle the case by agreeing to probation and a fine.

"We're just looking for a fair outcome to this case. If they want to take it to trial then that's where we'll go," he said, referring to Britney's legal team. "We're treating it like any other case."

What?!? But Britney isn't just "any other" person, you know?! Don't you know who she is?! Or, erm, does that defence not work over there?
