'John Mayer loved the real me', says Jessica Simpson

Although as you can see from this latest picture, John Mayer doesn't love the real paparazzi (although he is dressed very nicely, so who can blame them?). No wonder the poor man went to Los Angeles City Hall to complain about them officially yesterday.

But I digress. Because far more important than the ins and outs of civil liberties, the right to privacy and the potential breaking of any laws - clearly - are the latest revelations emanating from the mouth of John Mayer's ex, Jessica Simpson.

Jessica speaks out about her love life in a new interview with Elle magazine - and segues nicely from telling us that she used to try dating "different types of guys and conforming to their worlds. I thought I had to be artsier, more intellectual" to telling us about the artsiest, most intellectual of her ex-boyfriends. No, not Nick Lachey. John Mayer.

"John believed in the Jessica Simpson that's within," she says, in a spooky use of the third person. "He cherished our love. He helped make me the woman I am today. John is going to be an amazing man for someone, but I know that I was supposed to be with someone else."

John's "someone" being Jennifer Aniston, and Jessica's "someone else" being Tony Romo. Clearly. Don't you love it when things work out all neatly?
