David Beckham: 'Americans don't understand me'

And just to be clear: he means that literally. I think they understand the whole 'hunk in underpants' thing (left).

Yes, David Beckham has apparently faced a big a language barrier as he did in Spain since moving to LA. Victoria's hubby claims that his fellow LA Galaxy soccer stars don't always know what he's talking about - and vice versa.

"I must say I've had a few issues on that front. I sometimes say something and team mates don't understand me," admits Becks. "Then they say things and I don't have a clue what they are going on about. The other day one of them said they had a raspberry... They were talking about a grass burn! I couldn't get my head around that one."

Aww, bless.

The Beckham children - Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz - are fairing rather better, however. "I don't have an American accent yet but the kids are starting to get one," reveals David. "They're at school every day and learning different things about America. This is to be expected. I lived in Manchester and didn't get the accent. I've always sounded like a Londoner."

Not the brightest Londoner, indeed, but a Londoner nevertheless. Aww (again).
