Nelson Mandela bans Naomi Campbell

Nelson Mandela celebrated his 90th birthday in style last night - with a star-studded gathering in London's Hyde Park. Elton John, Oprah Winfrey and Bill Clinton were all in attendance - yes, that's how star-studded it was - but one celeb who had her invitation, erm, 'downgraded' somewhat was Naomi Campbell.

Naomi was due to appear on stage at the event - but she was removed from the list of presenters because of her recent 'air rage' conviction. And what's more, it was Mandela himself who did the removing.

"A source close to the concert said: "Naomi was on the list of potential people who would be asked to introduce the acts. She has done a lot of stuff in the past for Mandela's charity, 46664," says an insider. "But people were disappointed by what happened... notwithstanding the fact that she was wearing the charity baseball cap when she was arrested. It's not the behaviour of a charity ambassador.".

Whoops. And as a result, Naomi was "only" allowed to sit in the grandstand. Well, at least you still got a ticket, eh, love?
