Kate Beckinsale denies competing with Eva Longoria Parker

Kate Beckinsale really did look lovely at the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation* party in London last night - stealing the show from the likes of Orlando Bloom and Mikhail Gorbachev (and that's the only time you'll ever see those two names in the same sentence) in this gorgeous white, flowing gown.

But does she look as lovely as Eva Longoria Parker, eh? Because that is, as they say, the rub, since Kate started hanging out with the Desperate Housewives star - leading to speculation that there might be a competitive edge to their friendship.

"How could Eva and I be up for the same parts? She's tiny," says Kate - thus confirming that casting in Hollywood really is based on what you look like.

"I'm fascinated by little people," she adds. "Having said that, I feel like a giant. I've always felt a clunky girl. I could ski home on my feet."

Now that, I would like to see.
