Jodie Prenger wins 'I'd Do Anything'; George Sampson wins 'Britain's Got Talent'
Nation, you can stop holding your collective breath: Britain has found its two new stars. And fortunately neither of them are Same Difference.
On BBC1 last night, Jodie Prenger was crowned the winner of I'd Do Anything - the search to find the Nancy for the West End production of Oliver!. The 28-year-old former cruise ship singer rightfully beat 18-year-old Jessie Buckley (second) and 17-year-old Samantha Barks (third) to win - and that was no mean feat when she was standing next to them in an unflattering, spaghetti strapped flapper dress. Well done, Jodie!
Meanwhile, over on ITV1, it was refreshing to see a pair of feet, as opposed to a pair of lungs, win a talent show for a change. The 14-year-old feet belonging to dancer George Sampson from Warrington, that is - whose Singin' In the Rain breakbeat routine (complete with trilby, waistcoat and, yes, rain) beat singer Andrew Johnston and dance duo Signature to win Britain's Got Talent.
And now, life can return to normal. Well, except for Jodie and George, of course.
