Cheryl Cole replaces Sharon Osbourne on 'The X Factor'

Oops - looks like I was a little pre-emptive with this.

Because it's due to be confirmed by ITV this morning that Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole is the new judge on The X Factor - replacing Sharon Osbourne, who decided she's "gotta do something else right now."

"Although it's scary joining a huge programme like The X Factor, it's a massive honour to be following in the footsteps of Sharon. It will be brilliant," said Cheryl - adding that she won't be deserting the band. "The rest of the girls have said they're right behind me, which is really important. It will be weird to be on the other side of the fence this time."

On the other side of the fence alongside fellow babe Dannii Minogue, of course. Hmm.. so the guys get Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole, while the girls get Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell. And who said the entertainment industry was sexist/ageist/lookist?
