Uma Thurman becomes a redhead, is sued by Lancome
Not that those two things are connected. She wasn't under contract to only promote blonde shampoo, or something.
No, cosmetics giant Lancome is suing Uma Thurman because she's asking it for $1 million. Which sounds slightly the wrong way round, but let me explain...
Uma claims that she appeared on Lancome ads on Canadian billboards and Asian websites after her contract with the firm expired - and that she's therefore due compensation - while Lancome argues that those issues were not its responsibility.
With Lancome's lawyer saying that his client "couldn't control everybody out in the world", the company has filed papers in New York's Supreme Court - a move which has actually pleased Uma's people.
"I'm delighted that the case will go before a jury," explains her lawyer. "They got an enormous benefit throughout the world after the contract was over, and $1 million doesn't begin to do it."
Blimey.
Meanwhile, back in Uma's other job - acting, remember? - she turned up to the set of her new movie Motherhood in New York's West Village sporting a natty pair of spectacles and a natty new red hairdo. Well, you have to make sacrifices for your art, don't you?
