Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi to tie de knot

Don't you just love it when a love story has a happy ending?

I mean: as well as in Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz's case. And Paris Hilton and Benji Madden's case. Obviously.

Yes, Ellen DeGeneres has announced that she's getting married to girlfriend (or: "lesbian lover" as the Daily Mail would call her) Portia de Rossi, following news that the California Supreme Court had overturned state laws banning gay marriage.

Telling the studio audience of her TV show that she was marrying Portia - who was in the audience also - and that she was "very excited", the crowd rose to their feet, clapped and cheered... And Ellen said: "Thank you. I'll tell you who the lucky guy is soon."

Aww.

The couple met in 2004 - and as for what they'll wear on their big day? Well, call it a hunch, but I'm imagining Ellen will be in a suit, and Portia will be in a glamorous white dress.

But that is just a hunch.
