Miley Cyrus makes sure she's not on the fringes at the Idol Gives Back show

Popstrel Miley Cyrus (how do Americans dream up such names?) decided to go fringe-tastic at the Idol Gives Back show. Flicking her trademark peace sign she looked pretty good for her 15 years - no desperate flash of cleavage, over-egging of the make-up, just cool and casual like the Disney Hannah Montana she is.

Turns out Miley isn't actually called Miley (or Hannah). Her real name is Destiny Hope (yes, really) but she was nicknamed Miley because was was always smiley.

With good reason it would seem: she was born in 1992 and earns $3.5 million a year.

During the show our very own Gordon Brown announced via video link up that he would pledge $200 million to pay for 20 million mosquito nets for African families in need. On discovering that $10 (a fiver) - the cost of one mosquito net - could make a difference in someone's life, Miley delcared: 'There's people that can give hundreds, thousands... to make a difference."
