Madonna, Katie Holmes, Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow...and friends

Madonna threw a charity party with Gucci at New York Fashion Week last night, and all the A list attendees got into the giving spirit with gusto. Just look at the cute li'l friends they brought along!

Now, I'm going to excuse Madonna for bringing the pint-sized Lourdes to her big bash. She is, after all, a child, and therefore allowed to be short.

But what's with the rest of you, Katie, Jennifer and Gwyneth? This is a clear case of fashion before friends/ lovers/ whatever weird relationship TomKat have going on.

You can picture the scene: female celeb stares longingly at gorgeous heels; looks down at vertically-challenged invitee; stares back at said gorgeous heels. It was never going to be a fair contest, was it?

Mind you, the ladies certainly pulled out all the stops in the style department. For the first time ever, I can actually say that I've fallen in love with Katie Holmes' outfit. Amazing cut and colour.

Madonna played it safe colour-wise, but again, a lovely shape (and THANK YOU for finally sorting out Lourdes' monobrow).

J Lo made a great choice for a pregnant lady, but can I just say: Whoah! That's a baby bump and a half.

And Gwyneth? Well, the jury's out on this one for me - I'm none too sure about that dress/ heels combo. If you ask me, her wee friend is working the red carpet better.

At least, I think so. If I just squint my eyes a teeny bit...
