Gawd bless Jessica Simpson. Deliriously in love with a sensitive singer-songwriter type (John Mayer, to the unitiated), the girl's new romance is clearly blinding her to everything. Most specifically, to what she's wearing.

Not that Jess has ever really been an arbritator of good taste when it comes to clothes - but this latest style "experiment" is unfortunately one of her lowest points. Mainly because it involves a) a very obvious new fashion trend, and b) one of the hardest of those trends to pull off. Three little words, ladies: The. High. Waist.

Yes, as Jessica shows, the high-waisted look is best attempted by only the waif-like (think Geri Halliwell's recent foray); and should never be accompanied by a Barbara Windsor-style white polo neck. Especially when you're as, erm, blessed in that area as Ms Simpson is. Carry on like this, my dear, and you'll end up looking like America's answer to Jordan. And we're not sure that would really be John Mayer's cup of tea...
